Fast & Easy QBO Payroll Certification
Everything you need to know is now all in one place! If you are a bookkeeper, accountant, or payroll specialist, and have been frustrated with Intuit’s scattered and confusing training for their QBO Payroll certification, this course is for you.
OK, so here’s the story.
You may know me, Margie Remmers-Davis, from my super popular Fast & Easy QBO ProAdvisor certification courses. I have helped thousands of bookkeepers and accountants become certified ProAdvisors, rise to the top of their Find-an-Accountant listings, increase their lead generation, and launch their careers.
So when Intuit released their new QBO Payroll certification, it was no surprise when folks started knocking down my door asking for a Fast & Easy version.
They knew from experience that the Intuit training would be overwhelming, too much reading, and not enough hands-on practice to really feel confident in the material and pass the test, and they wanted my help–not just to pass the test, but to actually learn how to do it.
So, I dove in.
I already knew the Basic and Advanced tests backwards and forwards. I understood how Intuit presents their material and what I needed to do to translate it into something simple and easy to understand. I thought it would be a piece of cake.
BOY WAS I WRONG.
The problems with the Payroll training material were far different than they were with the other certification courses. Here’s why:
- Two courses. One test. After some trial and error, I figured out that the first half of the test was actually based on a different course in the ProAdvisor Training Center. This one was in the “Specialty courses” section. How is anyone supposed to know that??
- No documentation. This “other course” is just videos. There are no handouts and no web pages. None of the click-through material you’re used to when going through an Intuit course. So when you are taking the test, there is no way to look up what the trainer said. I finally figured out that I could get a copy of the slides if I signed up for an Intuit bootcamp, but there was still another problem.
- IRS and DOL information. Having the slides didn’t matter, because half of the test questions aren’t even covered. You have to look up the information on the IRS and Department of Labor websites. Shouldn’t you be taught everything you’re required to know for an exam? I mean, it’s been a long time since I’ve been in school, but I’m pretty sure that’s what I remember.
Anyway, I waded through the first half of the test and dove into the second–which is actually using QBO Payroll. But how was I supposed to do it? The Sample Company is not set up for Payroll, so I couldn’t figure out how to even practice.
I knocked on every door I could think of to find out if there was a Sample Company for Payroll. I asked customer support. I asked Intuit trainers (you know, the ones that run the bootcamp). I asked the woman who actually wrote the Intuit Payroll course. They all said “No, there isn’t one.”
Then it occured to me–the reason we have a Sample Company is so that the sales people have something to demonstrate with. So I turned to the Intuit sales team, and guess what? There is a secret back door to get to a QBO Payroll Sample Company!
Finally I could get some hands on practice!
So I continued to study. I picked apart the training. I looked things up on the IRS and DOL websites. I practiced in the Sample Company, and you know what?
I STILL couldn’t pass the dang test!
The wording on so many questions is so confusing, I couldn’t get my head around it.
Now, I am a smart person. I always did well in school.
But with the Payroll certification test, there were so many times I thought I understood, but it turns out I didn’t.
You see, that’s the problem with all these self-paced, self-learning systems that are flooding the market these days. And it’s ESPECIALLY true with the Intuit ones.
They present the information. They don’t teach it.
Just because you read something, doesn’t mean you know it.
And no one is giving you feedback to help you figure out what you’re missing!
That’s why I’m super happy to present you with the course that will change all of that for you and actually get you certified as a QBO Payroll ProAdvisor.
